Friends of Deep Creek Lake has launched a new petition campaign– asking Maryland Governor Hogan, our state delegation and County Commissioners to act to allocate funds for the newly passed State Lakes Protection and Restoration Fund. As passed and signed into law on May 4, 2017, a fiscal mechanism for funding has been created.
Now is the time to make the commitment to restore Deep Creek Lake and provide necessary funding for large ticket items, starting with dredging of the 10 sediment impaired coves.
The State Lakes Fund bill was introduced by Senator Edwards and Delegate Beitzel and supported by the County Commissioners, Town of Friendsfville, Chamber of Commerce, Board of Realtors, DCL POA, A CLEAR DCL and FoDCL as well as dozens of home owner associations and lake stakeholders and users.
To get funding, we must secure a commitment from Governor Hogan to support a path forward to allocate state funding. One way to do this is to submit this petition to him to show the extensive support for this request.
ACT NOW: Please download the petition below, print it out and get all your family, friends, guests and neighbors to sign it. Then mail it back to Friends of DCL, 779 Chadderton School Road, Oakland MD 21550.
