Two Part Time Water Quality Monitoring Field Interns

Friends of Deep Creek Lake is seeking 2 part-time field interns to conducted water quality monitoring of two tributaries which feed the lake. Total of 25 sampling trips, estimated taking 2 hours per trip over a 11 month period. Reduced sampling trips during winter months.
Job: to conduct sampling, keep careful records, collect other data, compile education materials on water quality sampling and stream restoration, report to organizational and funding staff, and be available to provide education to interested members of the public.
Duration: Starting in end of May, 2013 and continuing through early April, 2014.
Background/Training: Interns must have some previous experience and/or training in water quality sampling. Interns must understand importance of water quality sampling as part of overall watershed protection and restoration strategy.
Payment: On contract basis at a rate of $8 per hour.
Requirement: Must have own transportation. Project related travel will be reimbursed. Equipment will be provided
Other information: Sampling schedule can be arranged to fit into other time demands. However, interns must be available to conduct post-rain event and snow melt collections within a short time frame.
Opportunity for additional work a possibility if other grants are funded.
