Resident Canada Geese are a nuisance and potential public health threat to Deep Creek Lake. DNR Lake Management should be developing an action plan for control of this expanding waterfowl population. The “golden” goose of Garrett County should not be covered in goose poop nor should our docks. The State has obligation to ensure the ecological balance of the lake and this will require both programs and funding for resident Canada Geese controls. The longer the State delays actions, the more costly will be the control measures and in the interim we will all suffer decline in recreational use of the lake.
